What
Nighttime Construction Scheduled on SR 85: July 22 – August 9, 2025
Construction Activities Include:
- Removal and replacement of concrete median barriers
- Roadway grinding and paving with noise-reducing asphalt
- Drainage and curb upgrades
- Joint seal, striping, and guardrail installation
- Removal of outdated electrical components
Work Zones:
- Near Snell Avenue, Saratoga Avenue, and Fremont Avenue
Why
VTA, in partnership with Caltrans, will perform nighttime construction along SR 85 between Fremont Avenue and Snell Road from Monday, July 22 through Friday, August 9, 2025, between 8:00 PM and 5:00 AM each night.
Detour
Ramp Closures and Detours:
- The northbound SR 85 on-ramp at Saratoga Avenue will be closed nightly from 8:00 PM to 5:00 AM
- Detour signage will direct motorists to alternate routes
Community Impacts
What to Expect:
- Intermittent ramp closures and nighttime construction noise from equipment, paving, and saw cutting
- No daytime lane closures
This work is part of ongoing efforts to reduce freeway noise and improve safety for nearby neighborhoods.
