What
Ongoing Construction Activities
- Pile Driving & Excavation: Expect loud noise and vibrations near the interchange while crews drill foundations and install piles.
- Roadwork & Paving: Crews will be grading, laying base materials, and paving on the connector and interchange approaches. Drivers may see construction vehicles entering/exiting the roadway.
- Material Hauling: Trucking between staging areas will increase traffic on local haul routes.
Key Dates
- Aug 26 – Sept 5: Road excavation, grading, and paving work on connector ramps.
- Aug 26 – Sept 13: Pile driving and column work at interchange bridges.
- Sept 2 – Sept 3: Soil testing (increased truck activity).

VTA continues construction on the US 101/SR 25 Interchange in Gilroy. Drivers should expect the following impacts over the next few days (weather and conditions permitting):

What Drivers Should Expect
- Intermittent lane/ramp closures and slower traffic through the work zone.
- Construction noise and dust near the interchange.
- Increased presence of construction trucks in and around the project area.
We encourage drivers to:
- Use alternate routes when possible.
- Allow extra travel time, especially during commute hours.
- Stay alert and follow posted construction signs and reduced speed limits.
Traffic Impacts
Night Work, On/Off-Ramp Closures and Detours:
- August 27-28, between 9:00 PM - 5:00 AM, Southbound off and on ramps
- September 2-5, between 9:00 PM - 5:00 AM, Southbound off and on ramps
- September 3, between 9:00 PM - 5:00 AM, Southbound off and on ramps, and the Southbound # 2 Lane
- September 8-12, between 9:00 PM - 5:00 AM, Southbound off and on ramps
Detour Route for Overnight closure of the US 101 southbound on-ramp:
- Continue north on SR 25
- Follow detour signs onto Monterey Road
- Reconnect to southbound US 101 at the Monterey Road interchange
Detour Route for Overnight closure of the US 101 southbound off-ramp
- Continue South on US 101 to Betabel Road
- Betabel Road to Northbound US 101
- Northbound US 101 to Southbound SR 25
