What
Map of the US 101 and State Route 25 interchange work zone, with north toward the top. Overnight paving is planned October 8 to 9, 7 p.m. to 5 a.m., along the US 101 median and within the interchange. The #1 lane will be closed in both directions on US 101 during those hours. Daytime work hours are 7 a.m. to 4 p.m."

Overnight Paving Work: October 8-9 between 7:00 PM-5:00 AM

Where: US 101 medians and within the interchange work zone. 
When: October 8 and 9, between 7:00 PM- 5:00 AM each night

What: New asphalt paving. Expect paving machines, rollers, trucks, and testing crews.

Lane Closure: Northbound and southbound US 101

  • The #1 inside lane will be closed during scheduled nighttime work on Oct 8 & 9, between 7:00 PM and 5:00 AM.
  • Drivers should expect slower traffic and potential delays through the interchange.

Daytime work: Monday, October 5 to Friday, October 9

  • Route 25/101 bridge area: Drilling of bridge foundations and setup of temporary bridge supports. Expect construction noise and workers near the roadway.
  • Connector between US 101 and Route 25 (Tue, Oct 6 to Fri, Oct 9): Pavement grinding and grooving. This is noisy work.
  • Various locations (Castro Valley, Mesa Road, and along the interchange): Erosion control, drainage, and roadside electrical work. Surveyors will be out Thursday and Friday.

Coming up

  • Week of Oct 12: Crews begin installing concrete barrier and guardrail.
  • Starting Oct 19: Crews begin installing fences and gates.
  • November/December 2026: A traffic shift is planned for drivers exiting southbound US-101 and heading east on SR-25 toward San Benito County. Expect changes to the lane and ramp layout. More details will be shared soon.

Safety tips for drivers

  • Slow down and obey posted signs and flaggers.
  • Watch for workers, equipment, and lane shifts, especially at night.
