VTA US 101/SR 25 Interchange Project Construction Update

Location: US 101/SR 25 Interchange in Gilroy, CA
VTA is continuing construction on the US 101/SR 25 Interchange Phase 1 Improvements Project. Here’s what drivers should expect over the next few weeks
What’s Happening
- Night Work: Crews will be doing roadway excavation and paving during nighttime hours. Expect lane closures and construction noise.
- New Pavement & Barriers: Temporary pavement and protective barriers are being installed around the interchange.
- Bridge Foundations: Crews are drilling and testing large bridge foundation piles near the US 101/SR 25 ramps.
- Electrical Work: Electrical crews will continue installing systems throughout the project site.
- Well Removal (after Sept. 8): County-permitted work will begin to remove an old well near the interchange.

What Drivers Should Know
- Lane Closures: Nighttime closures may occur along connector ramps and surface streets near SR 25.
- Noise: Expect construction noise during excavation, pile drilling, and paving.
- Truck Hauling: Construction trucks will be hauling material in and out of the site—use caution when traveling through the area.

- August 26: 6:00 PM - 9:00 AM, Southbound off and on ramps
- August 27: 6:00 PM - 9:00 AM, Southbound off and on ramps
- August 28: 6:00 PM - 9:00 AM, Southbound off and on ramps
Detour Route for Overnight closure of US 101 southbound on-ramp:
- Continue north on SR 25
- Follow detour signs onto Monterey Road
- Reconnect to southbound US 101 at the Monterey Road interchange
Detour Route for Overnight closure US 101 southbound off-ramp
- Continue South on US 101 to Betabel Road
- Betabel Road to Northbound US 101
- Northbound US 101 to Southbound SR 25
