Nighttime Work Along the Median & Shoulders (Multiple Locations A–E), Between 8:00 PM – 4:00 AM:
- Pavement grinding and repaving in the median and shoulders
- Installation and repair of drainage systems
- Concrete barrier removal and preparation for new safety/noise-reducing barriers
- Guardrail replacement on outside shoulders
- Roadway striping removal and replacement
- Utility potholing and survey work
These activities may require intermittent lane closures in both directions of SR 85. Please use caution when driving through work zones and follow all posted signs.
Daytime Work
- Minor storm-drain inlet adjustments at select locations

Several activities are weather-dependent, and rain may cause shifts or postponements in certain operations.
Thanksgiving Week Note
Night work is expected to continue during Thanksgiving week on November 24 & 25, 8:00 PM-4:00 AM daily, weather permitting.
VTA and its contractor will be performing nighttime construction along State Route 85 (SR 85) throughout the week of Sunday, November 23, to Saturday, November 29, 2025, as part of the SR 85 Noise Reduction Program. Drivers should anticipate overnight lane closures, reduced speeds, and work crews present in multiple locations along the corridor.
- Expect slower traffic in construction areas
- Watch for construction lighting and noise at night
- Follow reduced speed limits in active work zones
- Allow extra travel time if driving during overnight hours
