VTA is advising motorists of ongoing nighttime construction throughout December 2025 and early January 2026 as part of the SR 85 Noise Reduction Project. Work will take place at multiple locations between Saratoga Avenue and the southern project limits and will require intermittent lane closures on northbound and southbound SR 85.

All work is scheduled during overnight hours to reduce daytime impacts. Dates are subject to change due to weather.
When
Nightly work is scheduled from December 1–31, 2025, between approximately 9:00 PM and 5:00 AM. Weather delays are anticipated and may shift work to alternate nights.

Where & What to Expect
Project-wide Nighttime Activities (Various Locations Along SR 85)
- Installation of construction signs
- Traffic control setup
- Safety and housekeeping work
- Drain inspections and small test digs to locate underground utilities
- Removal of vegetation and concrete barrier repairs
- Installation of trash capture devices and underdrains
These activities will occur intermittently throughout December in all work zones.
What Drivers Should Expect
- Intermittent lane closures in work areas
- Nighttime construction noise from grinding, paving, and barrier work
- Occasional ramp closures near the Saratoga Avenue on-ramp during ivy removal and utility potholing
- Reduced speeds and shifting traffic patterns
Motorists are encouraged to slow down, follow construction signs, and consider alternate routes during nighttime hours.
