Location: SR 25 at the northbound US 101 on- and off-ramps intersection

As construction continues on the US 101 / SR 25 Interchange Project, drivers will notice an upcoming change at the SR 25 and northbound US 101 ramps intersection: a temporary traffic signal will be activated to help traffic move more safely through the construction zone.

  • Some lanes used for merging or turning may be shortened or removed temporarily for construction, making intersection movements more challenging.

  • Turning movements at this intersection are heavily used during morning and evening rush hours, which can lead to longer waiting times.

  • Large trucks that require more time to turn use this interchange, including those serving local businesses and farms.

The temporary traffic signal assigns right-of-way and tells drivers when to go. This improves safety by reducing the risk of collisions and maintaining orderly traffic flow during construction. Properly functioning traffic signals can improve overall traffic operation efficiency and safety.

U.S. Highway 101 runs northbound and southbound through the center of the image, while State Route 25 crosses east–west. Temporary signal heads, highlighted with red circles, are installed on both sides of the intersection and in the center median to control traffic in all directions.

What Drivers Can Expect

  • For traffic on SR 25, the new signal will turn red only when needed, so major traffic flows will keep moving most of the time.

  • Delays should be minimal, but give yourself a little extra time just in case.

  • Electronic message signs will go up 1–2 weeks before the signal activates to let everyone know what’s coming.

  • Activation date is subject to change based on weather and other conditions.
