What
VTA is continuing work on the US 101/SR 85 Express Lanes Phase 4 Project, with field activities scheduled throughout December 2025. Drivers may notice crews and equipment near construction areas, as well as occasional night activity. No major lane closures are expected at this time, but minor traffic delays are possible near active work zones. Nightly work is typically between 8 PM and 4 AM (weather-dependent).
Work Areas & Schedule
Starting Week of December 8, 2025:
Cottle Road & SR 85 Interchange
- Crews will begin service enclosure work, followed by toll infrastructure installation.
- Field meetings and on-site work are expected to continue for 1–1.5 weeks, leading into toll system installation later in the month.
- A pre-construction coordination meeting is scheduled for December 8 at 12 PM.
Mid-December (Tentative):
Malech Road
- Pre-construction coordination for service enclosure work is anticipated.
- Work will proceed once the environmental survey and utility coordination are complete.
Ongoing December Work Along the Corridor:
- Drainage improvements and inlet top installation.
- Stormwater protection, maintenance, and erosion control.
- Preparation for future toll infrastructure and utility connections.

What Drivers Should Expect
- Crews and equipment will be visible along the project corridor.
