VTA is pleased to announce our October Artists of the Month - Mahoney Perkins (@mhny) and Mike McGee (@mightymikemcgee). We have selected Perkins and McGee to showcase their talent in the arts at VTA transit centers, on VTA vehicles and in the Take-One Passenger Newsletter. Aside from their talent in the arts, these guys share one thing in common – they’re both dedicated VTA riders!

Perkins has put together an entire show to share with us, on display at our Downtown Customer Service Center (55-A W Santa Clara St, San Jose) throughout October. We are very excited to present his sketches, paintings, and a few process videos in the space. Visit the Service Center on weekdays between 9a.m. and 6p.m. to get a peek of his amazing art.

When it comes to poetry, reading it never has the same impact as hearing or seeing it performed. So, we jumped on the opportunity to film a commercial with McGee. Check it out below!

Drawing inspiration from a lifetime of VTA rides, McGee shares one of his latest poems, Neighbor.  It was an honor having a poem written specifically about VTA by our county’s Poet Laureate himself – not many other transit agencies can say the same!
