Community Turns Out for US 101/SR 25/Santa Teresa Blvd Extension Scoping Meeting

Students, commuters, and community members showed great interest in a gathering intended to establish the scope of the US 101/SR 25/Santa Teresa Blvd Extension Project. The meeting took place at the Gavilan College Student Center on Tuesday, August 11, 2026.

From long-time Gilroy residents to first-time attendees, community members came together to learn more about the proposed roadway extension near Santa Teresa Blvd.

VTA project staff provided an overview of the Project and schedule and gathered input on the scope and content of the Draft Environmental Impact Report/Environmental Assessment (Draft EIR/EA) that will be prepared for the Project. Attendees asked thoughtful questions, shared firsthand knowledge of the local area, and offered helpful feedback.

Topics of discussion ranged from traffic flow and safety to environmental considerations and the extension's potential impact on daily commutes. The energy and engagement in the room reflected just how invested this community is in getting this project right.
