On August 1st, 2026, VTA ACCESS Paratransit began the phased deployment of its 24 ProMaster 2nd generation vehicles into revenue service.
These new vehicles are a direct result of our commitment to listening to the community. Incorporating feedback collected from VTA’s Committee for Transportation Mobility & Accessibility (CTMA), rider surveys, and community outreach events, this generation features upgrades designed to provide a safer and more comfortable experience for our passengers.
Compared with the first-generation ProMaster vehicles, key improvements include:
- Wider passenger seating, including a rear bariatric seat, to improve rider comfort and accessibility.
- An interior slope with supportive handrails for ambulatory riders to safely and comfortably access the rear seating area.
- USB Type A and USB Type C charging ports available for passenger use.
- An upgraded Braunability ramp system with a 1,000-pound capacity - and a 33-inch-wide ramp, providing safer, smoother, and more accessible boarding for mobility device users.
Thank you to everyone involved in helping us deliver solutions that move us closer to a more accessible option for ACCESS riders.
