Year-Long Lane Closure on Montague Expwy
09/18/2019
Stacey Hendler Ross

Milpitas commuters have been extremely patient with us as we build new opportunities to improve mobility. (Namely, the BART station.) And we are asking for your forgiveness yet again as we do more to make taking transit, and ease road congestion, an even easier choice.

Starting Monday, September 23, at 4:00 AM, the right lane of Montague Expressway, in the westbound direction closest to the Great Mall, will be closed 24 hours a day, 7 days a week for a little over a year. This will affect the section of roadway between South Milpitas Blvd. and Piper Drive.

The lane closure will allow us to build a pedestrian overcrossing that will connect the Great Mall area to the Milpitas Transit Center and BART station.

Driveways will remain open. Construction hours are Monday-Saturday 7 AM to 7 PM weather, scheduling, and conditions permitting. There will be noise, lights, dust, and construction vehicles driving back and forth, with the accompanying beeping noise that is required by OSHA for safety. Hence, we ask for your patience, once again, while we work to improve mobility in our-increasing traffic congestion.

If you have any questions or concerns, feel free to call our Customer Service center at 408-321-2300 or email them at customer.service@vta.org.

Thank you for your patience. In the end it's gonna be great!
