Berryessa/North San Jose Transit Center Transit Oriented Development

The Berryessa/North San Jose Transit Center is a 3.3-acre property owned by VTA adjacent to the Berryessa BART Station, located on Mabury Road and Berryessa Station Way.

This vacant land is currently underutilized and has the potential for mixed-used Transit-Oriented Development (TOD).  Projects that are transit-oriented allow people to live and work near public transportation, which helps clear the air, ease traffic, and adds infrastructure investments to the community.

This vacant land is currently underutilized and has the potential for mixed-used Transit-Oriented Development (TOD).  Projects that are transit-oriented allow people to live and work near public transportation, which helps clear the air, ease traffic, and adds infrastructure investments to the community.

VTA's Transit-Oriented Development Program works with municipal, non-profit, and private partners to encourage the development of housing, retail, and employment centers in places that will help increase transit ridership and contribute to a vibrant community.

VTA's Board of Directors selected developer partner, Affirmed Housing Group, at the April 2022 board meeting.  VTA is working together with the developer to prepare to refine the project program with the community and the City of San Jose.

VTA will partner with the Santa Clara County Office of Supportive Housing.  The Office of Supportive Housing administers the 2016 Measure A Affordable Housing Bond.  The partnership encourages the development of affordable housing at this site.
