Construction Update: May 6 – May 12, 2026

This Week: (May 6 – May 8)

Daytime Tree Removal Work – Wolfe Road

Residents and commuters are advised of upcoming daytime tree removal operations along Wolfe Road in both directions. This work is necessary to support ongoing roadway improvements and will require temporary lane and road closures.

Thursday, May 7 (7:00 AM – 3:00 PM):

  • Location: Southbound (SB) Wolfe Road
  • Work Area: Near the Hilton Hotel
  • Impacts: Temporary lane closures in the southbound direction

Friday, May 8 (7:00 AM – 3:00 PM):

  • Location: Northbound (NB) Wolfe Road
  • Work Areas:
    • Near the mall (Valco area)
    • Near the Hamptons residential area
  • Traffic Control Plan:
    • 7:00 AM: Closure of northbound lanes from Valco to the Wolfe Road bridge to complete tree removal near the mall
    • 10:00 AM: Closure will extend further north to include the Hamptons area
  • Additional Closure:
    • The perimeter road will also be closed during northbound closures to ensure safety and prevent vehicles from entering active construction zones and merging into live traffic lanes

What to Expect:

  • Delays during morning and midday hours, especially in the northbound direction
  • Increased congestion near major commute routes, including access to nearby business centers
  • Traffic control personnel and signage will be in place

Community Reminder:

We understand that Wolfe Road experiences heavy morning traffic, particularly for commuters accessing nearby employers and business centers. These closures are carefully phased to minimize disruption while prioritizing worker and public safety.

Next Week: May 11–12, 2026

Noise & Night Work:

  • Night Work Authorized: Construction is permitted during night hours. Nearby residents and hotel guests may experience increased noise, vibrations, and bright site lighting overnight.
  • Heavy Equipment: Activities including saw-cutting pavement, concrete removal, and road excavation will occur throughout the week.

Pedestrian & Landscape Updates:

  • Tree and Vegetation Clearing: Tree removal along the I-280 Southbound shoulder is expected to conclude by the end of the day on May 12.
