Overview
Santa Clara Valley Transportation Authority (VTA) is investing in rehabilitation and modernization projects across maintenance yards to improve employee wellbeing and workplace functionality. Planned upgrades focus on employee spaces including kitchens, restrooms, locker rooms, break areas, and outdoor amenities. Electric vehicle (EV) chargers will also be installed at all yards. Some construction projects are already underway, while others are scheduled to begin over the next several months. Procurement and construction schedules are dynamic and timelines may change.
Funding
- Funding for these upgrades is provided through the Transit Oriented Development Budget
- Funding for Guard House improvements at Guadalupe Yard is provided through SB129

Building B

EV Chargers Update and Schedule
Multiple coordination meetings with Operations have taken place, and future charger locations are nearly finalized. Conceptual design is complete, and we anticipate finalizing designs are approximately four chargers (eight stalls) at each yard by October 2026. Following design completion, the projects will move into the procurement phase.
Furniture, Gyms, and HVAC POs
VTA is enhancing gym facilities throughout its yards to provide employees with refreshed, more comfortable spaces for health and wellness. Improvements include new paint, upgraded lighting, ceiling fans, and new fitness equipment. These upgrades are part of VTA's ongoing commitment to improving employee facilities and supporting a healthier workplace. Chaboya Building A and C will begin HVAC equipment upgrades and duct cleaning. This will begin during Fall 2026.
