Field Trip Provides Long Term View
10/11/2023

We’re going on a field trip! As we look to the future with the continued development this fall of the Valley Transportation Plan (VTP) 2050, we’ll also be taking a trip to the past and revisiting a successful project from a previous VTP. Please join us Saturday, October 21 as we tour the Milpitas Transit Center through the lens of the Valley Transportation Plan.

VTP 2050 Community Field Trip
Saturday, October 21, 10am – 11am
Milpitas Transit Center
RSVP at https://VTP2050FieldTrip.eventbrite.com

This event will provide a chance for the public to see how project and program areas identified in our long-range planning, including transit infrastructure, bike and pedestrian infrastructure, and sustainability/environmental goals, came together in the design of the Milpitas Transit Center.

The Valley Transportation Plan 2050 sets the transportation vision for VTA, and the Milpitas Transit Center is an example of how projects in the VTP are built and how they benefit Santa Clara County. When completed next year, the VTP 2050 will contain a list of priority transportation projects identified for future development.

Opened for service in June 2020, the Milpitas Transit Center is a key local and regional connection, serving numerous bus lines and VTA light rail in addition to BART. The Center also sits in the middle of the Milpitas Metro Specific Plan Area, with an emerging transit-oriented neighborhood. So put on some comfortable shoes, apply some sunscreen, and stroll with us as we point out the Transit Center’s important elements.

In addition to showcasing this successful project from a previous Valley Transportation Plan, we’ll also be asking participants to help us shape VTA’s transportation vision for the future.

If you can’t make it to the field trip, there are other ways to engage with the development of the VTP 2050. A virtual community meeting will be held Wednesday, November 15. For more information or to RSVP, please visit the event page.
