VTA is holding a public meeting/open house for the 101/Zanker Road/Skyport Drive/Fourth Street Project on Wednesday, January 10, 2024 from 6:00 - 7:30 pm, at the Walter L. Bachrodt Elementary School. Community members are invited to attend and learn more about the project and provide input.

The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans), in cooperation with the Santa Clara Valley Transportation Authority (VTA) and the City of San José, has prepared a Draft Environmental Impact Report (EIR)/Environmental Assessment (EA) for US 101/ Zanker Road/Skyport Drive/Fourth Street Improvement Project which is available online for public review and comment. The Notice of Availability for the Project was circulated on December 29, 2023.

Printed copies of the Draft EIR/EA are also available to read at the following locations:

•           Joyce Ellington Branch Library, 491 East Empire Street, San Jose, CA 95112

The Project includes constructing a new overcrossing above US 101 connecting Zanker Road on the north with Fourth Street and Skyport Drive on the south, replacing nonstandard ramps on northbound US 101 at Old Bayshore Highway and Brokaw Road with new ramps at Bering Drive, widening local roadways to accommodate the overcrossing and ramp modifications, and incorporating bicycle and pedestrian facilities into the project design.  The purpose of the project is to enhance the transportation network in the project area to accommodate planned growth, improve safety and traffic operations, improve pedestrian and bicycle facilities, and improve access to/from the Norman Y. Mineta San José International Airport (SJC).
