How does buying fare on transit app work?
- Download Transit APP
- After you plan your trip, Tap the "Buy Ticket" button.
- For game day either select “VTA 1-Day” or “SBLX Caltrain & VTA 1-Day” fare.
- Add to cart and select quantities.
- Enter Payment Information
- Activate your passes when you are ready to use them to show VTA Fare Inspectors or Bus Operators.
- All passes include unlimited FREE transfers within the VTA system. No additional discounts for Youths or Seniors. No refunds, per fare policy.
- 1-Day Passes are valid for use from February 1–10, 2026. Valid for unlimited rides on VTA Local Bus and Light Rail through the end of the service day.
- 3-Day Passes are valid for use from February 1–10, 2026. Valid for unlimited rides on VTA Local Bus and Light Rail for 3 days through the end of the 3rd service day of activation.
Joint VTA / Caltrain Fares

Clipper Contactless Bank Card For Payment For Adult Fares
(Use contactless payment ONLY to board, do not tag when deboarding)
VTA recommends purchasing a Day Pass in the Transit app for round-trip travel on game day to avoid post-game lines. Riders can use contactless bank cards—plastic or mobile Visa, Mastercard, American Express and Discover cards—to pay adult transit fares. Get more info about contactless bank card payments.

Clipper Mobile App
(Tag your Clipper app ONLY when boarding, do not tag when deboarding)
There are two ways you can set up a Clipper card:
Option 1 (Apple Wallet)
On your iPhone (watch the video – YouTube, opens in new window)
- Open the Wallet app and tap the plus (+) icon
- Select Transit Card
- Select Clipper card and tap Continue
- Select an amount and follow the prompts to complete purchase
Apple Watch
- Open the Wallet app on your Apple Watch
- Scroll down and tap Add Card
- Tap Transit Card or Previous Card
- Select Clipper card and tap Continue
- Choose an amount and tap Add Money
- Confirm your purchase
Option 2 (Google Wallet)
- Open the Google Wallet app
- Select + Add to Wallet
- Tap Transit Pass and select San Francisco Bay Area, CA
- Follow the on-screen instructions to add your Clipper card
