What

A series of trees will be removed overnight behind the Courtyard by Marriott San Jose Cupertino adjacent to the I-280 northbound ramp. Due to the tree removal work, I-280 northbound ramp will be closed during work hours (8:00 p.m.- 5:00 a.m.). Due to bird nesting areas being cleared, tree removal can begin. In addition, Caltrans is restricting lane closures on World Cup game days. 

Where: 

Trees for removal are located on Caltran’s property on the I-280 northbound ramp behind the hotel parking lot.  

When:

The initiation of tree removal work will begin tonight, June 15, 2026, at 8:00 p.m.-5:00 a.m.  

 

* Please note that timelines for construction activity have some inherent uncertainty and may change depending on field conditions and/or inclement weather. 
 

What to expect:
Workers will clear/remove a series of trees. Work will include the following equipment: hydraulic lift, backhoes, and chainsaws

Why

This work is necessary to help prepare for constructing the retaining walls and the new ramp in that area.

Detour

I-280 northbound ramp will be closed. Motorists traveling southbound Wolfe Rd will make a right turn on westbound Stevens Creek Blvd. Then a make a right turn on northbound De Anza Blvd to enter the northbound I-280 ramp. Follow detour signs.
