🚧Construction, Overnight Work & Long-Term Ramp Closure between September 14-25, 2026🚧
VTA's contractor will continue construction at the I-280/Wolfe Road Interchange during the weeks of September 14–25.
Drivers, nearby residents, apartment communities, and hotel guests should expect continued construction activity and changing traffic conditions in and around the interchange.
New Traffic Configuration Preparation
Work includes:
- Installing temporary concrete barriers (K-rail)
- Roadway excavation
- Removing curb, gutter, and sidewalk
- Stripping for the new traffic configuration
- Activating temporary traffic-signal lighting
- Switching traffic to the new configuration begins 9/25/26.
Work Near Southbound I-280 Ramps
Temporary electrical work is scheduled near the southbound I-280 ramps, including installation of conduits, electrical boxes, and foundations.
Overnight Bridge Construction: Mon-Fri, Sept. 14-25 (8:00 pm-5:00 am)
Crews will continue roadway excavation of a new bridge support in the median area of I-280. Excavation may create noticeable construction noise and vibration for nearby residents and businesses.
Residents and hotel guests near the project should expect nighttime construction noise between 8:00 PM and 5:00 AM, Monday-Friday, for the next two weeks (9/10-9/25).
Help Keep the Work Zone Safe
Drivers should:
- Slow down and use caution.
- Watch for workers, trucks, and construction equipment.
- Follow all posted signs and traffic-control directions.
- Be prepared for lane changes and changing traffic patterns.
- Allow extra travel time.

Residents at The Hamptons Apartments, as well as nearby hotels and businesses, may notice:
- Construction noise and vibration

Parkview Court & Mine Court
The current schedule has NO closure or direct neighborhood impact for Parkview Court or Mine Court. However, residents may notice construction activity associated with the interchange, particularly bridge-support excavation, as well as changing traffic conditions when traveling through the project area.
⚠️Upcoming (Starting Sept. 28, 2026)⚠️Tree Removal & Soundwall Removal Process:

K-rail - Installed along the Northbound on-ramp shoulder.
- Installation of Orange Safety Netting – While trees and the wall are removed, the construction team will install temporary orange netting to create a visible safety barrier between the roadway/construction area and the community.
- Wall Removal – The existing sound wall will be removed.
- Tree Removal – Trees within the construction area will be removed.
- Installation of Chain Link Fence with Green Privacy Screening – Once the trees and wall have been cleared, a chain-link fence with green privacy screening will be installed to provide a more permanent barrier and additional visual separation from the construction area.
