VTA's contractor will continue construction at the I-280/Wolfe Road Interchange during the weeks of September 7–18. Drivers, residents, and hotel guests should be prepared for daytime construction, overnight work, lane closures, and a new long-term traffic configuration beginning September 17.

Information for Hamptons Apartments & Nearby Hotels
Residents and hotel guests near the interchange should expect increased construction activity in the next few weeks.
Potential impacts include:
- Daytime construction activity near the I-280 ramps. (7:00 am – 4:00 pm)
- Overnight construction noise from paving, trucks, and construction equipment. (8:00 pm – 5:00 am)
- Increased construction vehicles and trucks in the interchange area.
- Changes to traffic movements beginning September 17.
- A long-term closure of the Wolfe Road-to-northbound I-280 on-ramp. (beginning September 17)
The bridge excavation is expected to continue for several weeks, with overnight work generally scheduled from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m.
Hotel guests and residents should allow additional travel time, particularly when entering or leaving the area during peak construction activity.
Parkview Court & Mine Court
The current construction schedule does not have construction work or closures specifically within the Parkview Court or Mine Court neighborhoods.
Residents could experience indirect traffic impacts from changes at the I-280/Wolfe Road Interchange.
In particular:
- Traffic using Wolfe Road may be affected by the long-term ramp closure.
- Drivers heading to northbound I-280 will need to use the existing loop on-ramp.
- The September 18 traffic switch will create a new traffic configuration in the interchange area.
Residents should follow posted signs and allow additional travel time when traveling near the interchange.

Daytime Traffic Impacts
Northbound & Southbound I-280 Ramps: September 7–11, between 7 a.m.–4 p.m.
Crews are scheduled to perform temporary electrical work near the northbound and southbound I-280 ramps, including installation of electrical conduits, boxes, and foundations.
Drivers should:
- Slow down and use caution near the construction zone.
- Watch for construction workers, equipment, and trucks.
- Follow all posted signs and traffic-control directions.
- Allow additional travel time when approaching the I-280/Wolfe Road Interchange.
Other Daytime Construction
Drivers and nearby residents should also expect ongoing daytime construction activities within the project work areas, including:
- Excavation and underground utility installation.
- Backfilling and grading.
- Drainage-inlet construction.
- Delivery of construction materials.
- Temporary electrical work.
Overnight Work
Bridge Foundation: Beginning the Night of September 10 between 8 p.m.–5 a.m.
Beginning on the night of Thursday, September 10, the contractor will excavate the foundation for a new bridge support located in the median of I-280.
This work is expected to continue for several weeks, generally between 8 p.m. and 5 a.m.
What does this mean for drivers?
To allow crews to excavate safely, lanes on both northbound and southbound I-280 will be closed during portions of the overnight work.
Drivers should expect:
- Overnight lane closures on NB and SB I-280.
- Reduced speeds through the construction zone.
- Construction equipment and trucks.
- Possible travel delays.
- Increased construction noise for nearby residents and hotel guests.
Please follow all signs, lane markings, and traffic-control directions when traveling through the area.
Overnight Construction: September 16–18 (8:00 pm – 5:00 am)
In addition to the long-term ramp closure, crews will conduct overnight work between 8:00 p.m. and 5:00 a.m. as they prepare to move traffic into the project's next construction phase.

Overnight paving, barrier removal, and traffic preparation.

- Continue temporary paving.
- Remove temporary concrete barriers.
- Prepare the roadway for the upcoming traffic switch.
- Begin the long-term Wolfe Road-to-northbound I-280 on-ramp closure.
Drivers should expect a different traffic pattern through the interchange following the traffic switch.
