As work progresses on the Eastridge to BART Regional Connector (EBRC) light rail line in East San Jose, here's an update on major traffic changes and construction activities:
- LEFT-TURNS CLOSURE
Capitol Expressway and Ocala Avenue
Currently, there is only one left-turn lane from southbound Capitol Expressway to eastbound Ocala Avenue. U-turns are still possible.
Crews will return on August 19 for overnight work to stripe the roadway on northbound Capitol Expressway at the Ocala Avenue intersection. The new, temporary traffic configuration will close both left turn lanes from northbound Capitol Expressway to westbound Ocala Avenue until late October. - The two left-turn lanes on northbound Capitol Expressway at Ocala Avenue will be closed for several months beginning the end of July.
- A full closure of the intersection at Capitol Expressway and Tully Road will be required for overnight girder installation.
- Expect overnight road closures from Ocala Avenue to Story Road (northbound) with detours between 10:00 PM and 5:30 AM and from 10:00 PM to 9:00 AM on weekends. Follow detour signs.

SOUTHBOUND OCALA BRT STATION
The relocation of the southbound BRT station continues at the southwest corner of Capitol Expressway and Ocala Avenue, and it is expected to be completed soon.
SIDEWALK CLOSURE – NO PEDESTRIAN ACCESS – FOLLOW DETOUR
NO PEDESTRIAN ACCESS | Ocala Avenue Intersection
The sidewalk located at the northeast corner of Capitol Expressway and Ocala Avenue is currently closed 24/7. To access the northbound Ocala BRT stop, pedestrians and bicyclists should detour via Ocala Avenue to South Capitol Avenue. Follow detour signs.
