Welcome to the Central Bikeway Study! We’re seeking to create a bicycle superhighway that will provide a joyful, connected, comfortable bikeway between Santa Clara and North San José.

Project Description

The Central Bikeway Study will collaborate with community members, community-based organizations, VTA, the cities of Santa Clara and San José, Santa Clara County, and Caltrans to develop a route for an east-west bicycle “superhighway” between Santa Clara and North San José.

The study will explore the preferences of the Santa Clara and San José communities to understand where the superhighway should go, and what features and amenities should be included in the design.

VTA will use the resulting conceptual design documents as a starting point to identify funding opportunities to move into more detailed project design.

Public Input

For the project's third round of community outreach, VTA held interactive virtual meetings in September 2021 for community members to learn more about the Central Bikeway Study and provide input. Based on feedback received in earlier rounds, these meetings focused sharing information about the project's top ranked route.

If you've missed our community meetings, you can view the recordings on Youtube:
